The DeKalb History Center collects, preserves, and shares the wide-ranging stories of the people and places of DeKalb County, Georgia. Our Archives and Museum are located inside the historic courthouse in downtown Decatur, just a few miles from metro Atlanta. Open to the public, you can research many local history topics including genealogy and family history, cemeteries, and historic homes. We offer many public programs throughout the year. The Courthouse is available for rent and serves as a popular event facility for facility for weddings, corporate functions, and parties.

Etowah Valley Historical Society

Etowah Valley Historical Society, also known as EVHS, is located in the historic courthouse in the heart of Cartersville. It manages the preservation and documenting of Cartersville's historic sites, including excavation, architecture, art work and artifacts. More than 600 members are dedicated to the promotion of historical and cultural awareness in the community of Bartow County. Genealogy workshops and lecture series are offered. EVHS also publishes books on the region.
