The City of Walnut Grove is situated at the crossroad of highways 138 and 81, equidistant from Loganville and Monroe and connected to Covington and Conyers by those roads. While embracing the inevitable growth and taking steps to adapt, such as construction of the new Walnut Grove Parkway, City leaders have made a commitment to retain the uniqueness of the town’s beginnings. This is evident at City Hall, a four-room log cabin from the early 1790s. In 2007, the City worked with the University of Georgia to draft a design plan to move the City forward without losing its historic roots.
