History
Chattahoochee Gold Swimming was created by Beth and Pat Murphy as a small swim team in 1992. The team quickly grew and built their first pool in downtown Woodstock in 1996. The pool was quickly utilized as a training site by the 1996 Belarus Olympic swim team for the Atlanta Olympics. Gold Swim Team also utilizes lanes at the Mountain View and Cumming Aquatic Centers. In 1997 Beth Murphy opened the Gold Swim School onsite at their Woodstock location. The swim school teaches the life skill of swimming to students of all ages from 6 months to adult using the Swim America lesson program. Swim America was started 40 years ago by United States Swimming's best coaches and specializes in teaching survival skills, all 4 strokes, flip turns, and dives. Gold Swim School just opened a brand new completely indoor lesson facility in downtown Woodstock that offers lessons, water aerobics, and family swim year round.
