The Peer Support, Wellness and Respite Center provides peer support for anyone 18 years or older in three different ways:
A Warm Line that is operated by a CPS at all times, 24/7. Peers are able to one on one peer support over the phone at anytime of day or night.
Daily Wellness Activities are available every day of the week. The activities are focused on wellness, not illness, and moving toward a life of our choosing. Activities are holistic, creative, and recovery orientated. Some of our Wellness Activities include: Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP), Trauma Informed Peer Support, Double Trouble in Recovery (DTR), Job Readiness, Computer Skills Training, Creative Writing, Boosting Self-Esteem, and many more. For updated Wellness Activity schedule can be viewed here: http://www.gmhcn.org/wellnesscenter/bartow/index.html
Respite is one of the highlights of the center. Three respite beds can be used for up to 7 nights instead of a person going into a psychiatric hospital or if someone is just having a rough time in general. A Proactive Interview is done when a person is doing well, and it is used to begin to develop a relationship with peer staff before a respite stay is needed.
Proactive interviews are conducted each morning between 9 and 11 a.m. at the Peer Support, Wellnessand Respite Center in Cartersville and Bartow County.
