VA Medical Center is a two-division medical center that offers tertiary care in medicine, surgery, neurology, psychiatry, rehabilitation medicine and spinal cord injury. The center features more than 155 beds in its downtown and over 125 beds in its uptown division. VA Medical Center serves as a network resource for the treatment of spinal cord injury, blind rehabilitation and posttraumatic stress disorder. The center is affiliated with the Medical College of Georgia. VA Medical Center provides medical and allied health training to more than 700 students and residents annually. In addition, it operates a women's health clinic, cardiac catheterization and pulmonary function laboratories, and ambulatory surgery, intensive psychiatric community care and spinal cord injury centers. VA Medical Center is a part of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
