Founded in 1898, the Atlanta Athletic Club is known nationally and internationally for the facilities and services offered to the members and their families. Its two 18-hole golf courses, nine-hole par-3 course, 42,000-square-foot athletic center, indoor and outdoor tennis, Olympic-sized pool and club rooms and dining facilities make up a complex that offers social and recreational opportunities for members and their families. The club is one of the few facilities on the East Coast that offers all these services in one location. The Atlanta Athletic Club has hosted numerous national golf events, including the 1963 Ryder Cup, 1976 U.S. Open, 1981 PGA Championship, 1990 U.S. Women s Open and 2001 PGA Championship. The PGA Championship will return to the club in 2011.
