Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is an organization whose mission is to help men and women recover from alcoholism. It has built a foundation to support life-long sobriety, which is based on working a 12-step program with a qualified sponsor, attending meetings and encouraging others with their experience, strength and hope. AA is not allied with any sect, institution, organization, religious denomination or political spectrum. Its primary purpose is to encourage members to stay sober and to help the newcomer achieve sobriety.
