Albany Public Works Department consists of four general fund divisions that include administrative, Street Maintenance, Storm Drainage and Storm Stations; and two enterprise fund divisions consisting of Sewer Systems and the Solid Waste Division. The enterprise divisions are budgeted separately. Administration Division provides safe, quality service and general administrative support to all Public Works Divisions. The Sewer Division is responsible for the maintenance of all sanitary and storm sewers within Albany and for the operation of the Waste Water Treatment Plant and one hundred and four Lift Stations. The Solid Waste Division ensures that solid waste is collected and disposed of properly. The division also performs special clean-up projects and support for neighborhood clean-up projects. The Street Division is responsible for maintenance and construction of streets, alleys, sidewalks and other city properties. The Storm Drainage Section maintains all drainage ditches, drainage easements and holding ponds under the review of the city. The division also provides assistance in the removal of storm debris and hauling of dirt and sand. The Public Works Department is located in Albany, Ga.
