The main purpose of the Walton County Public Works Division is the routine and emergency maintenance of the road system in Walton County, Fla. The division is the largest division in the county's organization. It encompasses the fleet management, storm water management services, utilities coordination , solid waste programs, rights-of-way, bridges, reclamation and stabilization services, North Walton mosquito control, clearing and road building departments. The department is also responsible for the Walton County landfill. The landfill is open to any resident of Walton County and accepts any household or construction materials, excluding hazardous materials. The Walton County Public Works Division maintains its headquarters in Defunkak Springs, Fla.
