The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is a part of the government of Volusia County in Florida. It is a law enforcement agency that works to protect the lives and properties of citizens and visitors. The office oversees a staff of more than 1,100 employees. It administers a variety of crime prevention and public safety programs. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office operates through various specialized units, including auto theft, crime analysis, intelligence, traffic, aviation, bomb disposal and narcotics. It maintains a support service division that is responsible for fleet management and information systems. The office participates in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. It also provides police dispatching services on a contractual basis to the cities of Lake Helen, Oak Hill, Holly Hill, South Daytona, DeLand and Daytona Beach in Florida. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is certified by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
