The Poynter Institute, founded in 1975 is one of the leading journalism schools in the United States. Located in St. Petersburg, Fla., it offers a variety of courses, such as programs on leadership and management, ethics and diversity, design and graphics, photojournalism, and news reporting and writing. It also offers workshops and interactive courses for television and radio broadcast, and online and print journalism. It also conducts seminars and writers and ethics workshops. The Poynter Report, an institute magazine, serves as an additional teaching tool for creative journalism. Poynter s faculty members are frequent contributors to the Associated Press, journalism trade publications including Editor & Publisher, and The American Editor.
