History
The Orange Shop was originally part of the Crosby-Wartmann Fruit Company, which began growing and shipping fresh Florida Citrus shortly after the Civil War. The little town of Citra became the center of the citrus industry in Florida by 1894. A big freeze in 1894-95, and freezes in the 1960's through 1980's caused growers to move to southern Florida, but The Orange Shop has hung in there all these years. Still a favorite stop for tourists driving to Florida, and a must-stop on the way home to stock up on fruit and juice.
