Built in 1989, Tampa Palms Elementary School lies in the Tampa Palms community that boasts conservation areas, housing subdivisions and a golf and country club. One of the more noticeable aspects of the building is its hand-painted tiles on the front posts.
Tampa Palms Elementary serves more than 750 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Its vision statement is "Tampa Palms will be in the top one percent of elementary schools in the nation."
The school's mascot is an eagle. Colors are blue and white.
Accomplishments include being named an A-rated school for more than a dozen years in a row, as well as being dubbed a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.
According to 2009 - 2010 data from the state Department of Education, the racial make-up of the school is 44% white, 19% black, 16% Hispanic, 14% Asian and 6% other.
More than 30% are considered economically disadvantaged.
