Take Stock in Children is a transformative program that was founded in 1995 to provide high-potential, low-income underrepresented students with the resources they need to graduate from high school, go to college, and succeed in college, career, and life. With the support of concerned education, community, and business leaders, Take Stock recruits students in middle school, pairs them with volunteer adult mentors, and closely monitors their progress, emphasizing responsibility and accountability. The program has grown to serve approximately 15,000 students each year and has successfully served over 39,000 low-income, at-risk children through scholarships, mentors, and hope.
Take Stock in Children of Citrus County is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides scholarships, mentors, and support to qualified students and their parents. With a focus on financial need, the program selects students from 7th to 12th grades in Citrus County schools and helps them maintain a 2.5 GPA while providing enrichment workshops, a two-year tuition-free college scholarship, and a College Success Coach. The program has had numerous successes, including graduates enrolled in colleges throughout Florida and recipients of prestigious awards such as the Leaders for Life Fellowship.
