Founded in 1991, The Volusia County Sheriff s Office offers community-based law enforcement and crime prevention services. It operates a variety of specialized units, including narcotics, automobile theft, crime analysis, intelligence, investigation, sex and elder crime, traffic, aviation, bomb disposal, equestrian and homeland security. The office administers school-based drug education, weed and seed and citizen observer programs. The Volusia County Sheriff s Office maintains a judicial services division that provides court room security, prisoner transport and a range of law-related services. It also administers countywide crime stoppers and homicide investigative unit programs that maintain multiagency drug task forces. The office is located in Deland, Fla.
