PTEC Clearwater Campus provides students technical training to develop national workplace competencies to fill the needs of business and industry and is based in Clearwater, Fla. Founded in 1965, its 40-acre campus offers full-service schools approved by the Florida State Department of Education. Its apprenticeship course offers a combination of structured practical training and related technical instruction to employees, training them in occupations that demand a high level of skill, such as the medical, automotive, electronics, construction and manufacturing industries. The courses can last from one to five years depending on the occupational training area. Its continuing education courses are designed to offer advanced training and technical skills through short courses in an occupational area in which a person is seeking career enhancement. It also offers adult basic education including English for speakers of other languages and general education diploma preparation classes.
