The Orlando Housing Authority (OHA) is an independent public corporation established in 1938, funded primarily by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners appointed by the Mayor of the City of Orlando, OHA's primary goals are to provide affordable rental housing units for low-income individuals, families, and the elderly through various programs such as Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers and Public Housing, and to manage and maintain its housing and public spaces. OHA is committed to ensuring equal access to its resources and services for persons with disabilities.
As a Move To Work (MTW) agency since 2011, OHA also offers programs and opportunities that promote social and economic enrichment for its residents. Serving the Florida cities of Orlando and Sanford, OHA strives to provide housing without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, physical or mental handicap, familial status, national origin, or other protected class. It is an equal opportunity provider and employer, and any complaints of discrimination can be addressed to the HUD Director, Office of Civil Rights.
