National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration is a federal agency working under the United States Department of Commerce, and focuses on the condition of the oceans and the atmosphere. It supplies information to its customers that pertains to the state of the oceans, atmosphere, climate, ecosystems and commerce. In coordination with federal, state, local, tribal and international authorities, NOAA manages the use of national coast and marine environments, regulates fisheries and marine sanctuaries, and protects threatened and endangered marine species. It is a source of objective scientific information in particular areas of national and global importance, such as ecosystems, climate, weather and water, and commerce and transportation. The agency provides weather, climate and ecosystem information to make sure individual and commercial transportation is safe and environmentally sound.
