Masaki Nakamura, M.D., is a cardiothoracic surgeon at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute and is fluent in English and Japanese. Dr. Nakamura offers both minimally invasive procedures and general surgical care for patients with a range of conditions affecting the heart, lungs, esophagus and chest cavity. He specializes in coronary artery bypasses, heart transplants and repairs, and heart valve replacements. He also performs repairs of the thoracic aorta and the abdominal aorta. Prior to joining the Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, Dr. Nakamura served as a clinical instructor of adult cardiothoracic surgery in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at University of California San Francisco. Dr. Nakamura earned his medical degree at Kyoto University before completing adult cardiac and vascular residencies at both Kyoto University Hospital and Takamatsu Red Cross Hospital. He then completed an advanced aortic surgery fellowship at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Nakamura research on the dissection, repair and replacement of heart valves can be found in the Journal of Cardiology Cases. He has also presented his findings at the American Association for Thoracic Surgery.
