Main Street Bartow, Inc., formerly known as Downtown Bartow, Inc., is a local 501-C-6 organization established in 1984 with the aim of preserving and improving Bartow's central business district. As the 2nd oldest Main Street in the State of Florida, Main Street Bartow is dedicated to the preservation-based economic revitalization of the downtown historic district. With a team of energized staff volunteers and active membership in both the Florida Main Street Program and the National Main Street Center, Main Street Bartow works towards enhancing, preserving, and supporting economic development in the area.
The Main Street Bartow community offers a diverse range of dining options, boutiques, cafes, antique shops, salons, gift stores, and home decor stores, along with professional services synonymous with a county seat. It is also home to Polk County's History Center, housed in the Historic Polk County Courthouse, which was built in 1908. With funding from Bartow's Community Redevelopment Agency, the City of Bartow, and local business and resident investment, Main Street Bartow carries out its mission through committees of volunteers, focusing on organization, promotion, design, and economic restructuring.
