In the quiet rural community of Callahan, Florida Sun Printing provides commercial printing services from start to finish, from design to delivery, for customers throughout the Southeast US. The company prints newspapers, magazines, flyers, newsletters and many other commercial printing projects for customers ranging from churches and high schools to businesses and communities. Incorporated in 1963, Mark Thompson purchased the company in 2002. His father, James F. Thompson, was the original manager and was part owner of the company. Mark began helping at the plant as a child and has been around the business nearly his entire life. He literally started at the bottom and worked his way to the top. The company started with just a few employees and has now grown to over 20 employees. In 1989, the company began to outgrow its original space and expanded into the current location in Callahan. Mark believes that Florida Sun Printing is a vital part of the Callahan community. The company provides jobs in an area with few other employment opportunities. In turn, these employees provide for their family and spend money in the community. Employees learn technical skills that are in demand and hard to find in the printing industry.
