Established in 1974, Lorenzo Walker Institute of Technology is a specialized postsecondary institution. It provides certificates and workforce development training to people who have completed high school and who have left school before graduation. The institution is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education and the Commission on Dental Accreditation. It is also approved by the Federal Aviation Administration, Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Florida State Board of Nursing, National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The institute has an enrollment of more than 2,500 students and offers over 80 programs in personal and human services, health and science, business and transportation. Its workforce education provides individuals with career related experiences and job-preparatory instruction. Additionally, the school offers financial aid program to help students with educational expenses, such as tuition and lab fees.
