With more than 850 licensed beds, Lakeland Regional Medical Center is Florida s fourth-largest hospital. The nonprofit facility provides health care services to residents in central Florida, who collectively account for the fourth-highest volume of patient discharges in the state. The hospital s departments specialize in heart care, oncology care, emergency treatment, mental health and addictions, women s and children s health, orthopedics and surgery. Each year its team of cardiovascular surgeons perform more than 9,000 heart-related procedures. Lakeland Regional Medical Center was established in the early 1920s and is located in Lakeland, Fla. It is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
