J.J. Taylor Companies distributes Miller and Coors brands of beer and a mix of imports and microbrewery beers to suppliers. The company is among the top five distributorships in the United States. The company operates in three states (Massachusetts, Minnesota and Florida), employs nearly 625 people and serves more than 13,000 accounts. The company was founded in 1958 by John J. Joe Taylor, originally a Knickerbocker Beer distributor who served the Brockton area of Massachusetts. In 1973, Taylor acquired Sterling Beverage of Fall River, Mass., a Knickerbocker distributor to the Miller Brewing Company. In 1976, J.J. Taylor established itself in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn. area through the acquisition of East Side Beverage, an exclusive distributor of Miller. In 1997, J.J. Taylor expanded into the Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla., area under the name of J.J. Taylor Distributing/Tampa Bay. J.J. Taylor Distributing of Fort Myers-Naples, Fla., followed in 2001. The company s corporate office is located in North Palm Beach, Fla. and its warehouse facility is in North Dartmouth, Mass.
