CDS Family Behavioral Health Services, Inc. is a private 501 c 3 non-profit social services agency that has been serving North Central Florida for over 53 years. With a mission to empower youth and build strong families for a brighter tomorrow, CDS offers a range of programs including prevention, counseling, and youth programs. They provide valuable social and cognitive-behavioral skills to youth, helping them manage emotions and handle situations better at home and school. CDS is the sole provider of many services in the region, including their runaway short-term residential program, and they collaborate with community partners to ensure comprehensive support for individuals and families.
Originating from a group of UF professors in 1970, CDS has continuously developed innovative programs to address community needs. They were one of the first 60 shelters in the US and the first residential program in the Northwest Region under the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act. Over the years, CDS expanded its services to include teen suicide prevention, substance abuse prevention programs, and non-residential counseling for youth. They also provide support to young adults transitioning out of the foster care system through their Independent Living program. With a strong track record of success, CDS remains committed to serving families and youth in the region through their various programs, including Interface Youth Program, Safe Place, Family Action, S.N.A.P, Independent Living, and prevention programs.
