The Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale assists low-income families with affordable housing opportunities. It manages more than five public housing sites that include over 780 units. The authority s Section 8 Program provides sanitary housing for very low-income families while maintaining their rent payments at an affordable level. Its Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program is designed to help housing assistance recipients achieve independence from all types of government assistance. The FSS program includes several employment, education and homeownership opportunities, as well as counseling and social services. The Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale s Step-Up Apprenticeship Program provides low-income public housing residents access to education and employment opportunities. Its affordable housing program provides on-site training for public housing residents and additional housing opportunities for low-income families. The authority is located in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
