History
Half Moon Empanadas was founded by Juan Zavala in 2006, an Argentine-born entrepreneur, when he moved from the DC-area to South Florida. In 2008, Half Moon launched its first location in Miami Beach, FL. Today, Half Moon operates retail locations at several non-traditional venues, including the Univ of Miami and Miami Int'l Airport, among others. Half Moon's central commissary is located in the city of Miami.

Half Moon Empanadas specializes in artisan baked empanadas, made from scratch, by hand and with the best ingredients. Half Moon offers traditional flavors, such as beef, chicken, ham & cheese, and spinach, as well as signature flavor combos, such as The Cheesy Gaucho and The Spicy Chicken Cordon Bleu. Also, customers can now build their own empanadas!
