Federal Marine Terminals is in the business of cargo management at various terminals in the United States and Canada, including a terminal in Palmetto, Fla. Originally established in 1960 to complement the freight operations of the Montreal-based Fednav Group, it soon began to function independently, servicing bulk, specialized and general cargo needs. The Palmetto terminal handles various commodities, including steel products, machinery and project cargo, automobiles, containers, forest products, frozen foods, agricultural products and various dry and liquid bulk commodities. It utilizes modern cranes, equipment and gear, including more than 35 forklifts, container top loaders, ramps and a proprietary software to track cargo. Its facilities include a more than 5,400 feet continuous berth with a 40 feet draft, spacious warehouses and over 12 acres of open storage space.
