The Council on Aging of St. Lucie is a nonprofit organization providing services to seniors of St. Lucie County, Fla. Its mission is to seek, develop, coordinate and administer home and community based programs and services for senior persons of St. Lucie County and adjoining areas. More than 20,000 senior residents of St. Lucie County receive assistance from the Council On Aging every year. It helps seniors continue to live independently and delay placement into supervised living facilities. The organization offers a range of services as part of a comprehensive effort to help residents maintain independence with sacrificing quality of life. The services include adult day care, in-home financial services, such as bank account balancing, bill paying, managing medical bills, companion service, caregiver respite, personal shopping, escort to appointments and light housekeeping. Some services are supported in part by state and federal programs. Others are available through private pay.
