The Florida Department of Corrections (DC) is one of the largest state prison systems in the United States. The departments has 146 facilities throughout Florida, including 62 prisons, 46 work/forestry camps, one treatment center, 33 work release centers and five road prisons. It provides academic, vocational and substance abuse programs to inmates and offenders in areas, such as adult basic education, and printing and graphics. The Florida Department of Corrections parole and probation officers monitor offenders released from prison on parole, control/conditional/conditional medical release and offenders placed on court ordered supervision.
