The Coastal & Heartland National Estuary Partnership (CHNEP) is a collaborative effort between citizens, elected officials, and resource managers in Central and Southwest Florida, working together since 1995 to protect and restore water and wildlife habitat. As part of the US EPA National Estuary Program, CHNEP focuses on water quality improvement, hydrological restoration, fish and wildlife habitat protection, Gulf of Mexico restoration, and enhancing community resiliency.
Spanning multiple estuary watersheds, including Dona Roberts Bays, Lemon Bay, Charlotte Harbor, Myakka Peace River basins, Pine Island Sound, Caloosahatchee River basin, and Estero Bay, CHNEP is dedicated to preserving the delicate balance where rivers meet the sea. Through their efforts, they provide valuable resources such as the CHNEP Water Atlas, fact sheets, videos, and publications to educate and engage the public in their conservation initiatives.
