HistoryThe Carrabelle History Museum is a project of the Carrabelle Historical Society and the City of Carrabelle with support from the Franklin County Tourist Development Council and a community partnership with the Franklin County Public Library. It is staffed by volunteers and funded through donations, memberships and grants. It is one of three museums in Carrabelle. The museum is located in the Old Carrabelle City Hall built in 1933 as project of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) by local mason Marvin Justiss. It is an anchor historical building in the heart of our historical downtown.SpecialtiesOur museum specializes in local history of this colorful community from native villages circa 150 AD to the Civil War, lumber and turpentine brought international trade, WWII was a local boom time. Shrimping and fishing throughout the years. We have several special displays that highlight Local Heroes, the Steamship Tarpon which key to building our community in the early 1900's, Salt and Carrabelle's
