Established in 1975, Alden Road Exceptional Student Center provides learning opportunities for students in grades 6 through 12. It has an enrolment of more than 230 students. The center works to improve the daily living, academic, social and vocational skills of individuals. Alden Road Exceptional Student Center serves students with traumatic brain injuries, mental disabilities, and hearing and orthopedic impairments. It administers orientation and mobility instruction, as well as speech and language therapy programs. The center also offers behavioral training and physical and occupational therapy services. It has a parent-teacher association that organizes several meetings. Additionally, Alden Road Exceptional Student Center conducts proms and field days. It is governed by Duval County Public Schools, which operates elementary, middle, high and alternative education schools.
