The bank traces its roots to the early 20th century when it was founded as The Groves National Bank of Hollis, Oklahoma. During the depression of the 1930 s, when the infamous 'bank holiday' was called by President Roosevelt, Great Plains Bank was one of the few banks in the country granted permission to remain open. Its main branch is still located in Hollis and it operates additional branches in Eldorado, Sayre, Elk City, Mangum and Granite, Okla.
