Headquartered in Washington, D.C., United States Coast Guard, also known as USCG, is a military branch of the United States involved in maritime law, and offers mariner assistance, search and rescue services. USCG offers a wide range of services, including homeland security, law enforcement, search and rescue, marine environmental pollution response, and maintenance of river, and intracoastal and offshore aids to navigation. It eliminates environmental damage and degradation of natural resources associated with maritime transportation, fishing and recreational boating. The department offers a variety of safety services, including deaths, injuries and property damage prevention. It is a part of the Department of Homeland Security that mobilizes and organizes the United States to secure the homeland from terrorist attacks.
