Founded in 1979, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union is one of the largest, nonprofit unions of young workers in North America. The union is a network of more than 1 million members who work in the poultry, food processing and manufacturing industries. It works to provide better wages and benefits, as well as safer working conditions. The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union manages a civil rights and community action department. The union s collective bargaining department works to protect and improve jobs. Its negotiated benefits department provides technical and collective bargaining support for issues related to bargained health insurance and pension plans. The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union works throughout Hawaii, Florida and Arkansas.
