National Public Radio, also known as NPR, is a privately supported, nonprofit membership organization that produces and distributes noncommercial news, talk and entertainment programs. The organization reaches more than 25 million listeners weekly in the United States. It provides radio, news feed, mobile, desktop, podcast and newsletter services. NPR also offers programs related to politics, business, music, health and science, art and entertainment, and people and places. The organization manages a Web site, NPR.org, which provides hourly newscasts and special features. In addition, it produces and distributes over 100 hours of original programs weekly. NPR maintains partnership with nearly 850 independently operated, noncommercial public radio stations.
