The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, also known as CPB, is a private, nonprofit organization that has been operational since 1967. It supports the operations of more than 1,100 locally owned and operated public television and radio stations throughout the United States. The corporation is also a resource of funding for research, technology and program development for public radio, television and related online services. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting promotes public telecommunication services. In addition, it invests in programs and services that are educational and locally relevant. The corporation awards grants to create programs that air on public broadcasting stations. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting s funded programs include African American Experience, African Dreams, America Rebuilds and Ancient Greek Olympics.
