Founded in 1983, Community Connections is a private, nonprofit mental health agency. It provides various comprehensive mental health and residential services to residents of Washington, D.C., and Montgomery County, Maryland. Its rehabilitation program includes cognitve behavioral group interventions and diagnostic, psychiatric, rehabilitative, psychosocial and counseling treatment. The agency s federally funded projects address services for homeless individuals with mental health and substance abuse disorders. Located in Washington, D.C., Community Connections provides an array of consultation and training programs to human service agencies throughout the country. It specializes in the areas of trauma-specific treatment approaches, implementation of trauma-informed systems and the integration of mental health, addictions and trauma services. The agency employs more than 300 professionals and operates a bookstore, which provides several books, videos and group leader s manuals.
