Amputee Coalition of America is a national, nonprofit amputee consumer educational organization, representing people who have experienced amputation or are born with limb differences. The organization includes individual amputees, amputee education and support groups for professionals, family members and friends, and amputation or limb loss related agencies and organizations. Founded in 1986, the Amputee Coalition of America is headquartered in Knoxville, Tenn. The organization is partially supported by a cooperative agreement with the National Center on Birth Defects and Disabilities and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Its programs and events include amputee life skills, youth activities, outreach programs, and National Limb Loss Information Center. ACA also offers Youth Amputee eZine, and online magazine featuring articles, news, calendar of events, links, and games.
