Established in 1931, Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware is headquartered in Wilmington, Del., and is affiliated with the national program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. It offers the Smart Moves program that is designed to prevent drug and alcohol use and educate young people prior to sexual activity. The Act Smart program was implemented as part of an HIV prevention campaign to provide health and risk education activities. B&GC of Delaware s activities include judo, karate, weightlifting, archery, parachute games, dodge ball and relay races. Club members are instructed on various fine arts mediums, including painting, drawing, clay, watercolor, silk-screening, computer art, plaster crafts, collage, puppets, mixed media and sculpture. The Computer Assisted Tutorial Program utilizes integrated computer learning stations, which provides participants with an individualized computer assisted tutorial program and access to educational software.
