Darlington International is the nation's second-largest independent renderer. The company s fleet of 450 trucks collects more than 1 billion pounds of animal by-products from livestock producers, meat packers, grocery stores and restaurants annually. Darlington International sells its products to global manufacturers of chemicals, soap, cosmetics, plastics, lubricants, livestock and poultry feeds, pet foods and leather goods. Unprocessed animal by-products create an environmental and public health hazard. If not rendered, unprocessed animal by-products would build up and impede the meat and poultry processing industries. Darlington International has the ability to collect and process these materials in a way that insures biosecurity and facilitates product traceability. The company was founded in 1933 and is headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa.
