In addition to providing Sunday worship and Sunday school classes, this church hosts community meetings such as AA, Al-Anon and Alateen. It also houses the Trumbull Counseling Center and a food pantry.
The church congregation started with 12 families before it acquired a permanent site in 1849 on Jersusalem Hill overlooking Long Island Sound. It was moved to its current location in 1942 to make way for the construction of the Merritt Parkway.
In 1969, fire destroyed the church, but it was rebuilt and consecrated in 1970. The nave of the new building can hold a maximum of 216 people, and the choir loft, 25.
The vicar is the Reverend Ellen Kennedy.
