The Stratford Housing Authority is a public corporation that was established in 1943 and is regulated by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The authority is also regulated by the state of Connecticut through the Department of Economic and Community Development and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority. It provides affordable housing options to low- and moderate-income families and senior citizens. The authority owns and manages more than 510 apartments. It also assists over 280 families who are residing in private apartments through the Federal Housing Choice Voucher Program. In addition, the authority runs a rental assistance program that offers housing assistance subsidies to very low-income tenants so that the households can afford to rent privately owned residences. The Stratford Housing Authority is located in Stratford, Conn.
