The Parks and Recreation Department deals with the care, management, maintenance and control of all Darien parklands. This includes playgrounds, sports fields, nature preserves, beaches, and swimming and boating areas. Susan Swiatek directs the department. Darien’s parks and recreational facilities are in high demand, and the department works to continually provide and improve all that Darien has to offer. The department’s primary goal is to promote and encourage full involvement in and appreciation of our town’s beautiful parks.The department offers a variety of programs to residents and is also responsible for issuing all park permits.
