Though it was founded in 1900, in this city of historic churches St. Joseph on Main Street is actually the newest Catholic parish around. Its soaring brick structure was constructed by former parishioners of St. Rose who had moved west. After well over 100 years, St. Joseph's roots are deeply entwined in the community. Its congregants and graduates of its affiliated K-8 school populate the city. The church has a large, lively community that holds book clubs, prayer groups, CCD and does outreach at local soup kitchens and nursing homes.
