Greenwich Police Department
The Greenwich Police Department provides law enforcement and emergency services to the City of Greenwich in Greenwich, Conn. The Greenwich Police Department consists of 156 sworn officers and 16 civilian employees. The department is charged with the protection of life and property, the preservation of public peace, the prevention and detection of crime, the apprehension of offenders, and the enforcement of state and local laws and ordinances. Its divisions include police administration, uniformed services, criminal investigations, traffic, marine operations, animal control, K-9, and community and police partnership. In 2004, the Greenwich Police Department responded to more than 40,000 calls for service from the public. Greenwich is located in Fairfield County in southwest Connecticut and has a population of more than 60,000 residents.
