Sam the Clam's is a landmark in and around town. It's quite the spectacle on Meriden-Waterbury Road, fronted by life-size figures of The Blues Brothers, Marilyn Monroe and the Statue of Liberty. And with a cartoon clam as its logo, Sam the Clam's is also well-known for its tasty seafood and generous portions.
Inside, booths hug the exterior walls, with the bar at center stage. While the outside decorating is over-the-top, the inside is pretty much no-frills. It has let the food continue to take the starring role. There's an outside deck for overflow and eating out on warm summer nights. And the bar does brisk business on any given day of the week.
To keep up with the demand, Sam the Clam's erected its equally quirky, Sam the Clam's 2 Go, take-out business just across the street.
