Established in 1955, the Oldcastle Precast plant in Avon, Conn., is designed to manufacture precast modular box elements. Its 85,000-square-foot facility houses both heated manufacturing and warehouse space. This state-of-the-art manufacturing plant has the capacity to store nearly 900 tons of material. An underground aggregate storage area can hold 720 tons of aggregate, while six above-ground silos provide space for an additional 170 tons. Its computer-controlled batching system uses the latest digital technology. Air and steam run the length of the buildings and are available for production. This facility's operating volume is 150 to 200 yards per day. The plant has seven overhead cranes with lifting capacities from six to 25 tons. Oldcastle Precast is headquartered at Belgard Castle in Dublin, Ireland.
