Rocky Hill's recently remodeled police department is headed by Chief of Police Michael D. Custer. It was established in 1938 as a single-officer operation and has since grown to 34 sworn officers serving a community of 18,000. Civilian personnel make up the communications and clerical divisions staff, while sworn officers focus on the police and management matters. The Department has been at its current location since the early 70s and is shared with the human services department.
